What is the Subconscious Mind?
The subconscious mind is a catalog of emotions and beliefs that you’ve subconsciously collected throughout your life.
It’s an automated program that determines the majority of your actions without your having a direct influence on it.
Your subconscious mind has tremendous power to control your life experiences — from the food you eat, to the people you choose to engage with, almost all the choices and decisions you make are influenced by your subconscious. Indeed, everything you experience is guided by your subconscious beliefs and perceptions.
Your life is a printout of your subconscious mind, which has been programmed to follow a specific route. You can’t depart from that route unless you reprogram your subconscious mind.
Taking it a step deeper, your subconscious mind controls your autonomic nervous system. This system is responsible for your breathing, heartbeat, temperature, and a whole host of other bodily functions. These functions are occurring without your even being aware of them and with no effort on your part.
Often times we only think about our problems in relation to our perceived reality. We believe that all we need to do is work harder to get the results we want. If that were the case, then how could so many people who do work so hard not achieve their goals?
The Core Belief System
This is where the subconscious mind comes in. Many people have limiting beliefs, or blockages in their subconscious mind, that they are unaware of. These limiting beliefs will sabotage any efforts you make to invoke positive change in your life.
Did you know that most of your belief system is formed by the age of 18? The experiences and interactions you had as a child created thousands of beliefs or programs in your subconscious that were either positive or negative. If you are unhappy with any aspects of your life or keep having negative things happen to you, then it might be time to investigate why. Chances are you have limiting or negative beliefs that are holding you back.
“As you sow in your subconscious mind, so shall you reap in your body and environment.”

How Does the Subconscious Mind Function?
The “subconscious” is the segment of your mind that functions discreetly below your waking consciousness.
At this moment, while reading this article, you are primarily using your conscious mind to read these words and understand their meaning.
However, underlying that focused attention, your subconscious mind is busy working behind the scenes – absorbing or rejecting information based on existing perceptions and perspectives stored within it. These perceptions and perspectives began to take shape when you were a baby.
Your subconscious mind didn’t reject anything while you were young. It blindly stored all the information that you received.
Your subconscious mind didn’t reject anything while you were young because you didn’t have any preconceptions to oppose what it perceived. It blindly stored all the information that you received in your early life.
That’s why the subconscious often ends up becoming a problem later in life. Every time someone called you slow, lazy, stupid, worthless, or worse, your subconscious mind simply retained the information for future reference.
The same happened with messages you received regarding your life, potential, physical ability, skin color, gender, or economic status.
So, by the time you reached seven or eight years of age, you had developed a repository of beliefs and perceptions that you gained from the environment and people in your life, the television shows you watched, and other external factors.
This repository is where your subconscious mind repeatedly turns to find references to the happenings in your current life.
What are the effects of the subconscious mind on a full-grown adult?
The subconscious mind functions below the level of consciousness.
It is likely that the only time you encounter your subconscious mind is when it ends up affecting your reality – for example, when it inhibits your ability to create a happy, stable, and prosperous life.
Have you ever tried to achieve a goal but ended up sabotaging it on every turn?
If the answer is “yes,” then know that this doesn’t happen because you’re not good enough or are doomed to fail.
Instead, one of your subconscious programs is in conflict with the new conditions that you are trying to create. Crazy? Yes. But also, a relief, as the tools to achieve your goal are in your grasp.
The Necessity of Subconscious Reprogramming
Let’s say you have the underlying belief that you are unattractive. What happens when an attractive person starts taking an interest in you?
Most likely your first thoughts will be of denial. You’re not going to accept that this person finds you attractive since you’re already convinced that you’re not.
This is because your subconscious mind went hunting through the repository of your memories and found examples of occasions when you were made to feel unattractive.
Your subconscious mind will tell you that you are undeserving of love or not worthy of having an attractive partner.
The result?
You either will reject the person before they can reject you or you will do something to disrupt what otherwise might have been a great relationship.
The same thing happens when you’re struggling to fulfill your dreams. Eventually, you begin to believe you’re not capable of success. Thus, you accept failure and are convinced that you deserve it.
Above is just one scenario, yet there can be many other cases in which your subconscious mind restricts your hidden potential.
But there is good news!
You can overcome any situation if you take the time to reprogram your subconscious, which is not a complicated matter if you know how to do it.
How Can You Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind?
There are several techniques by which you can accomplish subconscious reprogramming.
All of them can be implemented simultaneously but picking one or two and giving them your full attention might be easier. With time, you can add additional techniques to your existing routine.
Being guided by a professional is a good starting point, especially if you do not know where to begin and/or feel overwhelmed.

How to Analyze The Success of Subconscious Reprogramming
One of the most challenging aspects of subconscious reprogramming is assessing its success and discovering what’s still lurking inside that might need a change.
To do this, you will have to develop a strong sense of self awareness so that you can detect minor behavioral changes.
However, there are usually some clear signs of progress that you might notice:
You start to feel more energetic, more confident, and happier.
You are more willing to take risks and face challenges.
Fulfilling your dreams and goals doesn’t seem overwhelming, just exciting.
You notice a sense of calmness, as though internal conflicts are dissolving.
You find and attract more opportunities to expand and grow in every area of your life.
In short, you will know when changes have been made in your subconscious mind because you’ll notice a transformation in both your inner and outer being.
The evidence usually is undeniable.
The Final Word - Consistency Is Key
Subconscious reprogramming is a slow process and it takes time to work. Do not anticipate immediate changes — you may feel some instant changes, but more often than not, it takes time
Regardless of the method you choose to reprogram your subconscious mind, make sure that you persist and remain consistent.
You will feel the motivation kicking in when the transition becomes apparent, but until that happens, stick with the process!
Just know that these changes are worth waiting for, and could potentially change your life forever.
